Note: We cannot and do not provide repair estimates without first assessing the equipment. It is not possible to accurately diagnose a fault or assess damage by only a description or photos. Equipment needs to be brought/sent in to be assessed.

Bringing your camera in for assessment. (Local customers/In store drop offs)

To ensure a fast and smooth process we ask that customers local to the Palmerston North/Manawatu area or others who wish to drop their equipment directly into our store front make use of our online repair form.

Please complete and submit this form before bringing your equipment in. This will allow you to drop off your equipment in a contactless way without the need to complete paperwork in store.

Sending your camera in for assessment.

To ensure a smooth process and to avoid delays please read the following information.


We are a Sony Authorised Service Centre and are equipped to carry out repairs on the digital still cameras (compact and interchangeable lens cameras), video camcorders and action cams.

This covers all repairs in and outside of warranty.


Please complete and submit the repair form using the links below or in the top menu. Submitting the form will automatically send a copy to your nominated email as well. There is no need to print the repair form page.


Once submitted follow the instructions included in the email. If you do not receive an email please check your spam folder or contact us for a copy.

You can either send a printed copy of the email with the equipment or at least a note with your name and reference number.

Non Warranty Repairs

If your item is outside of the warranty period (or if the warranty is void), we will provide an estimate of work required before repair, unless otherwise instructed.

We do not charge for estimates, but we do have a inspection fee/declined estimate fee.

The above inspection fee prices include return courier costs in the event the repair estimate is declined, the equipment is found to be uneconomical to repair or unable to be repaired.

(Return shipping within New Zealand only. Oversized items may incur additional freight costs)

This is to be paid when the equipment is sent in and will be put towards repair costs if the estimate is accepted.


If you cannot find the time to get to your local post office or courier, Phototronic can email you a courierpost ticket to use. You simply print it out, attach it to your parcel and phone Courierpost to arrange pickup. There is a $15 charge for this service that will be added to your inspection fee payment once your camera arrives at our workshop. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Domestic Warranty Repairs

If your item was purchased inside New Zealand we will require the following;

  • Proof of purchase, showing details of the store, model and date purchased. This can be uploaded on the repair form but must be less than 1mb in file size.
  • A completed online repair form.
  • Related accessories to the fault, i.e. Battery drain fault, include batteries and charger

International Warranty Repairs

If your product was purchased outside of New Zealand and you are claiming a warranty repair we require the following:

  • Proof of purchase, showing details of the store, model and date purchased.
  • A copy of the Tourist Limited Warranty Card (TLW) 
  • A completed repair form
  • Related accessories to the fault, i.e. Battery drain fault, include batteries and charger

Please contact us before sending the unit in for repair if you have any questions or concerns.

This is to ensure that we have the correct information at the start and will reduce delays.

Important Notes About Warranty Repairs

Phototronic Services will provide a courier ticket to send warranty repairs in for service. Please submit the repair form including your proof of purchase. Once we have reviewed your information, eligible claims will receive a courier ticket.

Please note that signs of shock/impact, water, sand or mishandling will void the Warranty. Non-warranty terms apply. An inspection fee will be requested before we provide an estimate for repair.
